Out of State Notification of Practice in WV During State of Emergency

The West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses (Board) at the emergency meeting on April 23, 2021 reviewed, considered and approved changes for RN and Dialysis Technician practice in response to Executive Order 12-21 published on April 19, 2021 by the Governor.

Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order 12-21 terminated and of no further effect Executive Order 12-20. Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order 12-21 permitting the Board, in their discretion, to suspend or modify the requirements for the follow​ing:

Registered Nurses and Advance Practice Registered Nurses licensed in another state to practice in West Virginia has been terminated by the Board.  As of April 26, 2021. no further applications will be accepted.

RN License Required to practice

All RNs licensed in another state whose primary state of residence is not West Virginia who want to practice in West Virginia after May 31, 2021 11:59 pm will need an active NLC RN multistate license if their primary state of residence is in another NLC state or a WV multistate NLC license or WV single state RN license if their primary state of residence is West Virginia. Apply for West Virginia RN licensure in the Nurse Portal located at https://wvrn.boardsofnursing.org/wvrn.
 
APRN License Required to practice​

All APRNs licensed in another state who wish to practice in West Virginia will need an active NLC RN multistate license if their primary state of residence is in another NLC state or a WV multistate NLC license or WV single state RN license if their primary state of residence is West Virginia and a West Virginia APRN license to practice in West Virginia.  Apply for West Virginia RN licensure and APRN licensure in the Nurse Portal located at https://wvrn.boardsofnursing.org/wvrn​.​
