Special Applications, Exemptions & Petitions
The Board provides specialized application pathways for temporary charitable volunteer service and statutory pre-licensure criminal history determinations.
Charitable Practice Exemption
Retired / Volunteer RN Care
Allows qualified retired or inactive Registered Nurses to request a temporary authorization exemption to provide uncompensated, charitable nursing care in West Virginia for up to 10 days per calendar year.
Pre-Licensure Record Petition
W. Va. Code ยง30-1-23 Determination
Prospective applicants with a prior criminal record may formally petition the Board for a binding determination regarding whether their criminal history disqualifies them from obtaining a West Virginia nursing license prior to entering an educational program or applying.
