Dialysis Technician Certification & Regulation

The West Virginia Board of Registered Nurses regulates Dialysis Technicians (DT) in West Virginia pursuant to W. Va. Code §30-7C-1 and Title 19 Legislative Rules. All initial applications, endorsement requests, and annual renewals must be submitted electronically through our online system.

🗓️ Annual Renewal Schedule

Dialysis Technician certification renewals occur annually from May 1 through June 30. You cannot practice in West Virginia without a current, active West Virginia Dialysis Technician certificate.

Certification Pathways & Requirements

Initial Certification

$200.00 Application Fee
For applicants who have completed a Board-approved Dialysis Technician training program and are preparing for or holding national certification. A temporary permit may be issued allowing practice while awaiting exam results.

Certification by Endorsement

Reciprocity Applicants
For individuals certified in another state or jurisdiction holding active national credentials from an approved certifying body. A 90-day temporary permit is available upon application receipt.

Reinstatement

$200.00 Reinstatement Fee
For technicians whose West Virginia certification has lapsed due to non-renewal. Requires proof of active national certification and updated background check documentation.
