The West Virginia RN Board provides primary source verification of nurse credentials and processes official license verifications for nurses transferring or endorsing their licenses to other states.
Verification Services
RN Verification to Another State
West Virginia participates in NURSYS. If you are an RN applying for licensure in another state, you must request your verification electronically through NURSYS.
Non-NURSYS RN Verification
If you require verification sent to a state board or entity that does not participate in NURSYS, please submit our paper RN Verification Form.
APRN Verification to Another State
NURSYS does not verify APRN licenses. To verify your West Virginia APRN license to another nursing board, a written request and a $30.00 fee are required.
Primary Source Verification
The Board performs primary source verification of practitioner education and training for RN and APRN licensees for employers and credentialing bodies.
📋 Requesting APRN License Verification
To request that the West Virginia RN Board send official verification of your WV APRN license to another state board of nursing, please follow these steps:
- Submit a Written Request: Include your full legal name, WV license number, contact information, and the exact name and address of the state board where the verification should be sent.
- Include the $30.00 Processing Fee: Payment must be made by cashier's check or money order for $30.00 made payable to the WV RN Board. (Personal checks are not accepted.)
- Attach the APRN Verification Form: If the destination state board provided a specific verification form, include it with your request.
