Dear Primary Source Verification Requester:

This is to inform you that West Virginia Board of Registered Nurses (WV RN Board) performs primary source verification of education in the form of sealed transcripts for all applicants before granting license in accordance with the following administrative regulations:

Code of Legislative rule 19-03-3.2. Filing of an Application for RN licensure. Per 19-03-3.2. a.1.C A final official transcript showing the type of degree and date conferred shall be sent directly to the office of the board from a board approved nursing education program. The final official transcript may be submitted after the forty-five (45) day filing deadline but shall be submitted prior to the examination date. The board will not consider an application for approval until the final, official transcript is received in the board office, and

Code of Legislative rule 19-07-3. APRN Licensure. Per 3.1.a.2 Verification of completion as evidenced by an official transcript with the official seal directly from a graduate program accredited by a nurse accrediting body that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and /or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or its successor organization as acceptable by the Board. Said verification shall include documentation verifying the date of graduation, credential conferred, and number of clinical hours completed. On and after January 2, 2015 the verification shall include evidence of completion of 3 separate graduate level courses in advanced physiology and pathophysiology, advanced health assessment, and advanced pharmacology, which includes pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics of all broad categories of agents, role and population focus of the education program, and evidence of meeting the standards of nursing education in this state, and per 3.1.a.3 an official verification of successful completion of the appropriate APRN national certification examination in the APRN role and population focus congruent with educational preparation is obtained from the certifying body
